As Founder and President, Charles J. Moore manages the existing funds and general administration of 1st & Main, while providing strategic support to the Banc Funds’ portfolio company management team.

Previously, Charles worked as an on-floor partner, trading options and equities at the American Stock Exchange and the Chicago Board Options Exchange from 1976-1984. From 1973-1976, he worked for The Northern Trust Company, first as an investment analyst and then as co-manager of the Special Equity Fund, a private equity fund involved in venture capital, mezzanine finance, and small emerging growth companies.

He holds degrees from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (M.B.A. in Finance, IPA Award for Excellence in Accounting), University of Oxford (M.A. Oxon., with honors), and the University of Pennsylvania (B.A.).

As Partner and Director of Research, John M. Baker supervises the five bank analysts; conducts investment research, and analyzes both bank operations and bank performance. He has expertise in commercial lending and corporate tax.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, he worked for American National Bank as a commercial lender, an investment manager for a group of Minneapolis investors, and was an auditor and tax consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co.

He holds degrees from the University of Iowa (Master of Accountancy) and St. Olaf College (B.A), and is a certified public accountant.

As Partner & Chief Sourcing Officer, Richard Hein ("Rick") spearheads the research and analysis of portfolio companies to identify and develop new investment opportunities, arrange exits, and wind-up funds. Subsequently, he effectively managed accounting, portfolio performance processes, all while managing various operational responsibilities.

He began his banking career at Michigan Avenue National Bank of Chicago and subsequently joined First Colonial after its acquisition of Michigan Avenue where he managed investment portfolios, accounting systems and reporting, and operational systems.

He holds degrees from DePaul University Kellstadt Graduate School of Business (M.B.A.) and DePaul University (B.A. in Accounting), and is a certified public accountant.

As Principal for the Fintech Funds, Christopher Hopkins (“Chris”) guides the overall portfolio design, sources investments, and works with management teams on valuation considerations. Chris brings a broad understanding of the financial services industry not only with fintechs and depository institutions, but with private and public companies. Chris has worked with companies in Chicago, New York, and Tokyo, across different stages and components of their life cycles and capital structures.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Chris gained experience in the investment banking divisions at Piper Sandler and Keefe, Bruyette & Woods focusing on corporate finance and M&A. At Citigroup, he worked in the Financial Strategy and Solutions Group focusing on valuation and capital structure optimization for financial services companies. He also worked on the FIG Debt Capital Markets desk in Tokyo covering Japanese Banks at JPMorgan.

He holds degrees from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (M.B.A.) and the Harris School of Public Policy (M.P.P.), as well as from International Christian University (B.A.) in Tokyo, Japan.

As Senior Associate for the Fintech Funds, William Moore (“Will”) sources and generates new investment ideas; supports due diligence on potential investments, and focuses on portfolio construction. Will also supports fundraising efforts and other LP-focused matters.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Will worked for the Madison Square Garden Company on the Corporate Development & Strategy team from August 2015 to February 2022. He focused on the growth of Madison Square Garden Company’s portfolio of venues, teams, and brands via internal strategic optimizations and external acquisitions. Previously, he was an investment banking analyst at Wells Fargo on the Consumer, Healthcare, and Gaming coverage team from June 2014 to August 2015.

He holds a degree from Yale University (B.A. in Economics).

As a Banc Funds Portfolio Manager, Jean Riggs is responsible for sourcing new bank investments and monitoring current investments in the southeast region of the country. She brings a wealth of experience to asset quality, corporate governance, audit, and bank regulation.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Jean worked for 10 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, regulating 7th District financial institutions. Her responsibilities included the examination of domestic state member banks and bank holding companies as well as foreign-owned institutions.

She holds degrees from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (M.B.A.) and the University of Wisconsin (B.A.).

As a Banc Funds Portfolio Manager, Thomas Ronczy (“Tom”) covers existing and prospective community bank investments on the West Coast.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Tom worked in corporate finance in the insurance industry for 10 years, focusing on acquisitions, debt and equity transactions, SEC reporting, and investor relations. Previously, he worked in management consulting with Coopers & Lybrand and began his career as a financial analyst with the CNA Insurance Companies.

He holds degrees from the University of Michigan (M.B.A.) and Northwestern University (B.A. in Economics).

As a Banc Funds Portfolio Manager, Gerald R. King (“Jerry”) covers banks in Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Northern Virginia, Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and, due to long-standing relationships, specific banks in Louisiana, Michigan, and Oklahoma.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Jerry spent most of the preceding eight years performing mergers & acquisitions analysis at Bank of Oklahoma. In addition, he has significant experience in commercial lending, credit management, and bank operating system development.

He holds degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington (M.B.A.) and Bradley University (B.S. in Business). Jerry became a certified public accountant earlier in his career, and later earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

As a Banc Funds Portfolio Manager, Ronald J. Peterson (“Ron”) follows banking companies located primarily in the central and southwestern United States, generating investment ideas, supporting due diligence efforts, providing support to bank management teams, and modeling financial performance.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Ron worked as a sell-side equity research analyst covering small- and mid-cap banking companies located predominantly in the central United States. Previously, he was a bank examiner with the Comptroller of the Currency.

He holds a degree from St. Cloud State University (B.S. in Finance) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Cheryl Cortez is a Portfolio Manager on the Banc Funds team at 1st & Main Growth Partners and has been with the firm since 2016. She conducts fundamental research and maintains a portfolio of bank depository holdings, primarily based in the Northeast region of the United States.

Prior to 1st & Main, Cheryl was a sell-side equity research analyst, covering small- and mid-cap Consumer, Industrial, and Business Services companies for Deutsche Bank, William Blair, Susquehanna International Group, and Salomon Smith Barney. Previously, she was a valuation consultant for Deloitte Financial Services, and a European Pharmaceuticals sector equity sales specialist for UBS Warburg.

She holds degrees from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (M.B.A.) and Wellesley College (B.A.).

Terry Murphy is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of 1st & Main Growth Partners and has been with the firm since 2000. He manages the financial, audit, and custodial functions of the firm. He also coordinates legal, tax services, and regulatory reporting. Terry has overall responsibility for providing support and administrative services to the firm’s Limited Partners.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Terry worked at Jordan Industries and The Chicago Board of Trade.

He holds a degree from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University (B.A.).

As Head of Business Development for 1st & Main Growth Partners, Camille Rudge cultivates relationships and identifies business opportunities, focusing on the launch of our 1st & Main Alpha Hedge Fund. She ensures investor and client needs are met, supporting overall growth.

Previously, Camille founded the capital markets business at CIBC Bank USA (The PrivateBank) and led financial markets businesses as Corporate Managing Director, ABN AMRO Bank N.A., including expanding the derivatives offering for LaSalle Bank N.A. and European American Bank. Camille also established the foreign exchange franchise at Old Kent Bank and served as Director of Continuing Education at the University of Notre Dame.

She holds degrees from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management (M.B.A., Finance) and Bucknell University (B.S., Computer Science). She also serves on the boards of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and St. Francis High School and, previously, The Chicago Children’s Museum.

John Klimkowski manages accounting and performance projects, supports research and analysis on potential investments, and provides oversight on back-office and middle office operations. John also supports fundraising efforts and other LP-focused matters. His proficiency in programming and coding has been critical to the firm’s data science efforts.

He has previous work experience with Morgan Stanley in portfolio management as well as with the Chicago Board Options Exchange in market regulation.

He holds a degree from the University of Michigan (B.B.A. in Finance).

Vonise Blanc assists the Chief Compliance Officer in all functions, specifically updating the compliance manual and writing the annual compliance report. Vonise is also responsible for completing the day-to-day settlement process, coordinating the process between 1st & Main and JP Morgan Chase & Co., the firm’s custodian. She also manages and maintains some of the investment performance databases and is responsible for the administrative duties of the Palm Beach office.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Vonise worked for Engineered Tax Services as a Quality Control Accountant, performing accounting duties along with quality control checks for IRS tax forms and schedules. Previously, Vonise worked for Florida Crystals as an accounts payable specialist and Cemex as a payroll specialist.

She holds a degree from Florida Atlantic University (B.B.A. in Finance and minor in Accounting).

Nancy Morton is an Accounting Manager at 1st & Main Growth Partners and has been with the firm since its inception, providing accounting, tax, and consulting services as an independent contractor. She joined the firm full-time in June 2023.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, Nancy worked as an independent contractor, providing accounting, tax, and consulting services, for several businesses and families. Previously, Nancy worked for a national accounting firm and a local accounting firm, specializing in income tax compliance, research, and consulting.

She holds degrees from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business (M.B.A.) and Michigan State University (B.S. in Microbiology).
