As Partner and Director of Research, John M. Baker supervises the five bank analysts; conducts investment research, and analyzes both bank operations and bank performance. He has expertise in commercial lending and corporate tax.

Prior to joining 1st & Main, he worked for American National Bank as a commercial lender, an investment manager for a group of Minneapolis investors, and was an auditor and tax consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co.

He holds degrees from the University of Iowa (Master of Accountancy) and St. Olaf College (B.A), and is a certified public accountant.
